2023-2025 IB DP students planned and organized a number of interesting and very successful CAS projects. Here are several examples:
1 TEDxYouth event at KJJG “A Circle with many centers and no circumference” (Project leaders: Agnė Šalnaitė, Vakarė Šliumpaitė)
These enthusiastic students managed to get a license for the event and invite a number of speakers who shared their opinions and insights on different topics of global significance. As Agnė states in her reflection, “This event encouraged students in my gymnasium to think outside the box as exposure to diverse and contrasting opinions really made one question certain beliefs they possessed previously, perhaps raising an inner conflict or challenging some views that I hope have led people to grow as tolerant and open-minded individuals”.
Photos and more information about the event can be found here: https://www.ted.com/tedx/events/57291
2 IB Got Talent (Project leaders: Quincy Jonah B. Alabastro, Chelsea Venice Abonita)
A team of students organized this event for their fellow students, inviting them to demonstrate their talents (playing music, singing, etc.). The participants were from DP1, DP2 and MYP classes. Organizers also did a podcast in which they interviewed the participants about their creative journeys. As Quincy writes, “It was great to see everyone come together and showcase their talents, reminding us that IB students are about more than just academics.”

3 The Douglas Young Tournament (DYT) (Project leader Gintaras Sinkevičius)
The Douglas Young Tournament is a two-round project. It was introduced to Gintaras by a group of IB Diploma Programme students from Denmark. This gave Gintaras an idea to try and get into the tournament with the KJJG IB students’ team as well. And he did it. The team managed to do well in the first round and then travelled to Denmark to participate in the second one. It was fun, educational and challenging. In his reflection Gintaras writes that “This was a largescale project—nothing of this scale had been done before in the IB community. And I’m proud to have written my school’s name into the history of DYT, with hopes to continue the tradition in the years to come.”

4 Teaching CLIL lessons/ lessons in English (Project leader Greta Jurevičiūtė)
Choosing her CAS project, Greta decided to do something different and try teaching biology to 6th graders. She used both Lithuanian and English languages, prepared her own lesson plans (based on the CLIL lessons in the National education programme). She also came up with creative ideas to make her young students more interested in the lessons, e.g. using a colour system for receiving their feedback. It was a fulfilling experience. Greta notices that “it also allowed me to improve and get more comfortable working individually and with others. While also learning alongside my students and getting comfortable in my own skill. In other words, developing the confidence and skills that will definitely come in handy in the future.”

5 A video about IB DP programme at KJJG (Project leaders: Markus Mocevičius, Gerda Ulickaitė)
This beautiful initiative was a collaboration of DP2 student Markus and DP1 student Gerda. As they say, they wanted to show “the welcoming, inclusive and creative environment of our school”. In the video one can see the school’s halls, classrooms and science labs, at the same time hearing Markus’ narration. Both students hope that “future students will be able to use this video to better understand what the programme offers and decide whether it is a right fit for them”.

… and of course, there were many more! We are happy to have such initiative, talented and enthusiastic students!
