This year our DP2 students have created and participated in a number of interesting, unique and well-developed projects. Let’s take a look at some of them (the list is to be updated).
- A Dance Performance “Laikas, kuris neturi laiko” (“Time which has no time”)
This beautiful project – dance performance at our gymnasium – was coordinated by DP2 students Arnas Ginevičius, Ugnė Januškevičiūtė ir Kornelija Lazauskaitė. They invited dancers from other schools to do the event together and created a meaningful performance which was highly evaluated by spectators. The project definitely required lots of efforts of their managers. Arnas reflects: “This project also aimed at bringing dancers from different backgrounds together not only for variation in the performance but as a means for everyone to learn from each other as well as make new friends and connections. For example, hip hop dancers tried to dance contemporary in one dance number. In this project people tried new things, new styles and we are more than ever grateful that they took on the extra challenge.”

2 Translation Project
During this project (led by Deimantė Nistelytė) a group of students translated Langston Hughes poems from English to Lithuanian. They have never been translated to Lithuanian before, and the students here managed not only to create a project but also develop their English and Lithuanian skills. Deimantė explains the importance of their efforts: “The poetry speaks of fight for human rights, racism, especially from the perspective of Black people. Looking at the history of Lithuania, local society did not have a lot of direct interaction with other races in the boundaries of the country. This is why most of the stereotypes or general awareness of Black people lives and experiences were seen on media. But as the society progresses, diversity is growing in Lithuania. And having such poetry in Lithuanian is valuable part of developing literary knowledge and culture in Lithuania”.

3 Talk Show With Teachers “(ne)plepėk!” (“(don’t) chat!”)
The idea of this lively project was developed from our school’s life – it is natural that students are interested in getting their teachers better, but usually there is not much time to chat about their ideas and lives during the busy school day. A group of students organized a talk show with two teachers – English and Arts, and this warm conversation was greatly enjoyed by both teachers and students. The project’s managing team was Aistė Pociūnaitė, Nojus Majauskas and Vakarė Bivainytė. Nojus reflects: “Hopefully, this activity helped our school’s students to see that teachers have more sides to their personalities than just being teachers”.

4 International Conference “Real Voice, Real Impacts: SDG Youth Conference”
The project – international online conference – was organized by Justė Tamošuitytė. The conference, an event for students and managed by students, provided a chance for speakers all around the world to share their ideas on various pressing global issues. It was a great chance for speaker to practise their speaking skills, share their opinions and meet new friends.
